Saigon Diary: ‘So Vietnamese’

My favorite Mexican-Canadian tripped over a weirdly positioned stair when he was here in Saigon in a hotel. He cursed the architecture as “So Vietnamese.” We’ve been using the phrase ever since. I saw the pinnacle (maybe the nadir) today: a ~100-float parade parading through the city at 7pm without closing the street to traffic was so Vietnamese.
